Secret Village Pinot Noir 2022

Red cherry, poached strawberry, spice, quite smoky and autumnal, yet also kind of pretty. It’s a light wine, squishy red fruits, sap and mulchy decay, but also bright and quite delicate. It has bright acidity, porcini mushroom savoury things, a light dusty grip to tannin, and a sweet/sour/spicy finish of good length. It strikes me as kind of old school Australian Pinot Noir in style, and that’s not meant to be pejorative, just an observation. I like it. It has character. Drinks well.

Quality Pinot. Without even tasting the wine, its colour whispers autumnal and savoury things and that's exactly what's on offer. Impressive stuff from Indigo Vineyard. Dried leaves, twigs, mushroom compost, licorice, orange peel and comforting spices - what an intro! Stewed cherries and strawberries play a secondary role as waves of spice roll through with ease. The tannins offer some chew with a long and drying finish to consider. Not shy on interest, this is a most enjoyable Pinot for those who seek the savoury type. Drink to five years+

Brings cool-climate virtuosity to the glass with a pinot that is both wild in nature and elegant in purpose. Sour cherry, cranberry, dried leaves, briar and earthy scents are then mirrored on the palate, which is well defined by a sinewy, fine tannin presence. Clean and precise in delivery, with a cranberry-like tartness that gets the gastric juices in a whirl.
